You have to get or have a bachelor’s degree, be able to pass a background check and be willing to get training.

Get Trained

Most NM colleges have training programs. There are two types: Traditional (Bachelors) and Alternative (Graduate) Programs

Get a NM Teaching License

Before you teach, you need to fill out a licensure application with NM’s Public Education Department. You also need to send transcripts and get a background check.

Get a Teaching Job

Check out district job boards and NMPED’s Interactive Recruitment Map. Do direct outreach to schools via phone, in person, and through subbing or volunteering.
